Eschscholzia californica
Annual poppy plant with bright golden yellow and orange flowers.
The California gold poppy owes its name to its bright golden yellow to orange semi-double flowers. These bright flowers attract butterflies and other insects from spring to fall. The annual, drought-resistant plant forms long taproots. The pinnate leaves are arranged in rosettes on the slightly branched, hairless stems, which grow to a height of around 30 - 40 cm and only produce one flower per stem. The poppy, which originates from California, usually self-seeds so that it can also be enjoyed the following year.
